When Reddit user Doczils went out to run some errands with his mum, he wasn’t expecting anything eventful to happen.

But then he stumbled across three cases of slides in a charity shop, and embarked on an amazing journey.

While two of the cases contained fairly dull slides relating to the University of Michigan and dental work, the third contained pictures of a family and their adventures during the summer of 1954.

The images are utterly charming, and give a fantastic insight into American life in the 1950s – and one family’s sunny summer adventures. And now he’s trying to track them down…

The family are believed to have lived in Michigan. This is their house and car.
