Your old video tapes could be worth a lot of money

Unlucky. You probably threw these bulky units out years ago. And that’s why they’re now worth a lot of money.

Experts believe VHS tapes are joining the ranks of vinyls.

Over time they’ve been wiped out from the average household, with rental chains such as Blockbuster being erased from our high streets.

But the cassettes have been away for just long enough to inspire nostalgia.

David Jinks, of international courier ParcelHero, said: ‘It’s time to learn the lesson of vinyl. Many once unloved and discarded original LPs and singles are now worth significant sums, as this month’s Record Store Day on April 18 will show.

‘Most people who bought the original Beatles’ White Album release played them to destruction; they had no idea they might be very valuable…
