Maps created by homeless people show Newcastle in a completely new light

An artist has created a map of Newcastle that will make you look at the city in completely different way.

JoJo Oldham handed out maps of the city without any road names to homeless people at shelters and asked them to annotate them with places or moments that were significant to them.

What she found when looking at the maps not only give a fantastic insight into how homeless people live, but also provide the homeless community with a voice, something it is denied all too often.

One map features an arrow pointing south next to the comment: ‘Want to leave Newcastle and live in Spain.’
